Caregiver Spotlight: Meet Terria!

What is your favorite part of caregiving?
Getting to know our clients and hearing them talk about their lives. Our clients have led extraordinary lives, and seeing the joy they have in being able to tell someone about it is a gift.
What is one thing you've learned on the job from a client?
I've learned different ways to individualize care for each person. However, what sticks out to me is how, yes we are there for the health and safety of our clients, but we are also there for their families. In caring for our clients, we provide peace of mind to their families, which is not an aspect that initially rang out to me, but has been expressed to me throughout my time here.
What are some of your favorite activities to do with your clients?
I love enjoying a cup of coffee or a treat with clients. The wonderful conversations and fun times that have come from that have created wonderful memories I get to carry with each person.
Tell us about a moment or day you felt you made someone feel special.
For me, that is in the little day-to-day things. When I make someone's favorite dish for dinner, or help set up their house just the way the like, or have their favorite music playing that we can sing or dance along to. Getting to know the clients in a way that you can enjoy the day-to-day with them makes each day with them a treat.
What specific qualities or characteristics do you have that helps you in your caregiving role?
I enjoy listening to our clients. From listening, you learn so many things, have a wonderful time with each person, and provide better care to each person as well.
What are you most proud of in regard to working for Home Care Partners and caregiving for seniors?
I'm proud of the work we do. I like coming in to each home, striving to have a good day and help each person in whatever way they need to make their day great and safe.
What motivates you?
My family. I try to treat each of our clients with the care and respect that I would want someone to treat my family with.
How do you feel working for Home Care Partners helps you to make a difference?
Every day, or most days, I see the smile on our client's faces. Whether we are there to help them with day-to-day tasks, or just be a friend, their smile makes the day.
What are your future aspirations?
To continue to help others live the lives that bring them joy.
